Platinum vintage ring with precious coral, sapphire, emerald, ruby and diamonds
Description
Platinum vintage fantasy ring with Egyptian papyrus motifs on the shoulders. The ring is set centrally with a blood coral surrounded by single cut diamonds and cabochon-cut sapphires, emeralds and rubies.
Egyptian influences in jewellery have been recognisable for centuries and are especially noted for their symbolism and decorative forms. Many designs refer to protection, nature and eternal life, for example through the use of papyrus motifs that symbolise growth and renewal. Bright colours, faience or glass inlay, and the generous use of gold were characteristic, as these materials conveyed power and status in ancient Egypt. After the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922, these distinctive forms experienced a revival, making Egyptian style a significant source of inspiration for modern jewellery designers once again.
