The distinctive colour of rose gold

Rose gold gets its characteristic colour from the metals used in its alloy. 18-carat rose gold consists of 75% pure gold, with other metals, including copper, added to create its warm pink hue.

It is this colour that gives rose gold such a different character from yellow and white gold. White diamonds stand out beautifully against the warmer metal, while coloured gemstones can either create a striking contrast or complement its softer tones.

Rose gold is therefore an appealing choice if you want the colour of the metal itself to play an important part in the overall design of your engagement ring.

Combining rose gold and diamonds

The warm colour of rose gold offers plenty of possibilities when paired with diamonds. In a solitaire engagement ring, a single white diamond stands out clearly against the metal, while smaller diamonds set into the band can add extra brilliance.

A halo setting is another option, with smaller diamonds surrounding the centre stone. Different shades of gold can also be combined within a single design. For example, the setting around the diamond does not necessarily have to be made in the same colour of gold as the band.

The design may begin with a particular diamond or gemstone, an existing piece of jewellery, a shape you like or simply an idea of your own. Together, we look at the proportions, setting, band width and details to create a ring that reflects your preferences.

A 3D visualisation can be created before the ring is made, allowing you to see how the different elements work together. Once the design has been finalised, our goldsmiths will craft the ring in our own workshop.

If you already own a diamond or gemstone that you would like to use, this may also be possible. We will first carefully assess the stone before advising you on suitable designs and settings.

Natural diamonds at Lyppens

At Lyppens, we work exclusively with natural diamonds. This applies to our rose gold engagement rings as well as all other diamond jewellery in our collection and pieces made in our workshop.

Diamonds of 0.30 carat and above are supplied with a GIA or HRD certificate. This records important characteristics of the diamond, including its carat weight, colour, clarity and cut quality.
