Yellow gold halo ring with untreated sapphire and diamonds

18kt yellow and white gold halo ring centering an octagon cut untreated sapphire from Madagascar weighing 5.21ct, surrounded by brilliant cut diamonds with a total weight of 0.46ct, colour F and clarity VVS. The sapphire is certified by the German gem laboratory, die Deutsche Stiftung Edelsteinforschung (DSEF). 

One of the main localities of the highest quality sapphires is Madagascar. Stones from Madagascar are therefore very popular. To improve the clarity and colour of a sapphire, it is heated. This does happen with 95 to 98% of the world's sapphires. This makes untreated sapphire extremely rare and sought after.

The sapphire in this ring is very pure, with a beautiful even deep blue colour with no form of treatment and is also above 5 carats. This is a very rare combination and, together with the origin from Madagascar, makes this sapphire one of a kind.
